The Ice-T (Image Composition Engine for Tiles) library was developed by Sandia National Labs for fast parallel rendering across tiled displays, often called RenderWalls.

The IceT library is unnecessary for small datasets, but scales very well for larger datasets where most old systems break down. IceT is the default compositing engine used in Kitware's ParaView. It uses a Sort-Last algorithm to composite, but offers many configurable options to modify the default composition behavior.
