ParaView Pipeline Browser

The Pipeline Browser window displays information about the ParaView's visualization pipeline. The Pipeline Browser begins with the server. In Figure 1, the builtin or local server is used. The ParaView server can be located on a remote machine using a client/server connection. The visualization pipeline either begins by using a data reader that reads a file on the local or remote server, or the pipeline begins with a source. The pipeline is built by adding filters to the data reader or source. The Pipeline browser shows how the readers, sources, and filters are connected to one another.

Using the mouse, a user can left-click on a data reader, source, or filter in the Pipeline Browser window to select it. This will display the appropriate Properties Tab, Display Tab, or Information Tab in the the Object Inspector Window. An additional left-click will allow the user to rename the reader, source, or filter by simply typing in the new name and pressing the Enter key.

Using the mouse, a user can left-click on the eye icon to toggle on or off the visibility of the associated data, source, or filter. If the eye icon is dark gray ParaViewEyeDarkIcon.png, then the item is visible. If the eye icon is light gray ParaViewEyeLightIcon.png, then the item is not visible.

The Pipeline Browser can be popped out of ParaView into its own window by pressing the ParaViewPopOutIcon.png pop-out icon. The Pipeline Browser can be closed by pressing the ParaViewCloseWindowIcon.png close window icon.

Using the mouse, a user can right-click in the Pipeline Browser window. A pop-up menu will appear that allows the user to read in data. By placing the mouse over a data reader, source, or filter, and right-clicking, additional options will become available. This will allow you to create a custom filter, change the input of filter (when a filter is selected), or delete the selected item. The delete option is only available if the selected item is at the end of the visualization pipeline.
