The Superquadric source uses the VTK source vtkSuperquadricSource. The source can generate and display several 3-D objects including a sphere, a box, or a torus.

  1. The user selects Source->Superquadric from the main menu. This will open the Superquadric Source interface.
  2. The Center boxes allow the user to specify the center of the 3-D toroid to be created.
  3. The Scale box allows the user to specify the scale of the 3-D toroid to be created.
  4. The Theta Resolution box allows the user to specify how many divisions will be created in the theta direction. More divisions allow for a smoother appearance for the toroid.
  5. The Phi Resolution box allows the user to specify how many divisions will be created in the phi direction. More divisions allow for a smoother appearance for the toroid.
  6. The Thickness box changes the outside diameter of the toroid.
  7. The Theta Roundness indicates a smoother toroid in the theta direction.
  8. The Phi Roundness indicates a smoother toroid in the phi direction.
  9. The Size box changes the size of the toroid.
  10. The Toroidal checkbox toggles on/off the toroid shape. This can change a toroid to a sphere if toggled off.
  11. The Apply button must be pressed before the toroid shape will be generated.
