VisIt Operators

An operator is a filter that a user applies to a database variable. The filter is applied before the compute engine uses the database variable to generate a visualization.

Box Operator

The Box operator removes areas of a plot that are outside of the volume as defined by an axis-aligned box. The Box operator is intended for use with 3-D datasets. If a cell straddles the box boundary, it is not clipped. Only cells within the box are removed. This can leave the edges around the clipping box looking jagged.

Clip Operator

The Clip Operator can be used to remove cells from data before it is visualized. The Clip operator can clip away box-shaped regions (like the Box Operator) or sphere-shaped regions.

Cone Operator

The Cone Operator, like the Box Operator and the Clip Operator can be used by the user to remove cells from data before it is visualized. The Cone operator can clip away cone-shaped regions that can be left in 3-D or projected onto a 2-D plane.

Cylinder Operator

The Cylinder Operator, like the Box Operator, the Clip Operator, and the Cone Operator can be used by the user to remove cells from data before it is visualized. The Cylinder operator can clip away cone-shaped regions that can be left in 3-D or projected onto a 2-D plane.
