The Scatter plot allows the user to take a look at the numerical values in their data in a spreadsheet format.

  1. In the Plot Manager section of the VisIt Main Window, select Plots->Scatter. This will bring up the Scatter plot Wizard window.
    • The Wizard allows you to choose a variable to use on the Y-axis.
    • The Wizard then allows you to choose whether or not you want to use a variable on the Z-axis (Yes/No).
    • The Wizard then allows you to choose whether or not you want to use a variable to use as the scatter plots color (Yes/No).
    • Click the Finish button to create a new scatter plot.
  2. In the Plot Manager section, select PlotAtts->Scatter. This will bring up the Scatter plot attributes window.
  3. The Inputs Tab allows the user to modify the inputs to the scatter plot.
    • There are four input tabs the the user can choose from.
    • The Variable pull-down menu allows you to choose which variable to plot.
    • The Role pull-down menu allows you to choose on which axis to plot the variable.
    • By checking the Min box and entering a number, you can change the minimum value.
    • By checking the Max box and entering a number, you can change the maximum value.
  4. The Appearance Tab allows the user to change the appearance of the scatter plot.
  5. Click on Apply.
  6. Click on the Draw button in the Plot Manager section.
